T-Mobile G2 With Google is 4G

T-Mobile has upped the ante on smartphone performance with the introduction of the G2. The “G” in G2 stands for Google. That means integrated access to Google Voice, which can automatically transcribe voice mails to text so you can read them like an email or text message.

T-Mobile G2 Android phoneThe G2 is also an Android phone, running Android 2.2. It has a 3.7 inch full touch screen with 7 customizable home panels. You can download thousands of apps and widgets from the Android Market to customize your smartphone. It’s just one click away.

Here are some more interesting features about the T-Mobile G2. Unlike a certain other smartphone that will remain nameless (think: it keeps the doctor away), the G2 is enabled with an Adobe Flash Player. It also comes with a slide out full QWERTY keyboard that opens and closes using unique “z-hindge”. That means real keys for fast and sure text entry rather than tapping on the glass to write your messages.

But what about the 4G? Is that WiMAX or LTE? Neither one. T-Mobile is leapfrogging the other 4G players by rolling out HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access). It’s a GSM technology that has been evolving for years rather than something completely new. As such, T-Mobile expects to have it available in 100 major markets serving 200 million people by the end of the year.

But is it fast? It screams. Theoretical peak download speeds are up to 21 Mbps, with peak upload speeds up to 5.7 Mbps. In actual service, you probably won’t see that much bandwidth, perhaps a third of those peak values, but it is enough of an advance from 3G to deserve the 4G designation.

What else does the T-Mobile G2 have that’s eye-opening? The digital camera is a 5.0 Megapixel model that includes auto-focus and HD video capability. You can record HD videos in 720 resolution. Send and receive picture and video messages using multimedia messaging. Or, stay with SMS text messaging, IM, or email, as your fingers fly on that QWERTY keyboard.

There are, of course, the usual multimedia niceties that we’ve come to expect in smartphones. The MP3 player supports MP3, AAC, eAAC+, WMA, MPEG4, WAV and MIDI formats. There’s an FM radio on-board in case you tire of your tunes collection or want to catch the latest news and sports scores. Social networks are easily accessible. You can get to Twitter, Facebook and MySpace quickly. After all, quick is the name of the game in social networking. If you must work, then you’ll have attachment viewing of Word, Excel and PowerPoint files with Word and Excel editing possible with apps from the Android Market.

Is G2 the one for you? If so, learn more and order your T-Mobile G2 Android phone with service at a terrific online discount.

Of course, you can shop to your heart’s content for Android and other smartphones plus standard cell phone models. They’re all available discounted or even free at Cell Phone Plans Finder now.

Recycle Your BlackBerry Phone For Cash

It’s time to take your old BlackBerry phone out of service. You’ve signed a new contract and have a brand new BlackBerry or other smartphone on your existing phone number. The trusty old model doesn’t do much anymore. It doesn’t have service or a number. But it’s still in too good of shape to just toss in the trash. Isn’t something as high tech as a BlackBerry worth money?

Recycle your blackberry phone for cash. Click to find out how much. You bet it is. Depending on which model you have, the condition it is in and how old it is, you could be looking at some serious cash... if you can find a buyer. What a pain that is! You have to run ads or auctions, then hope somebody is in the market for what you are offering at exactly the time you are offering it. Then you have to deal with people coming over or by mail. It sure would be nice if you could just sell these things.

You can. There is an electronics recycler that offers cash for used BlackBerry phones and most other models of cell phones and smartphones. Which models do they want? Let’s take a look.

First, visit the electronics recycling site. Then, then search for the BlackBerry phone models that are worth cash. If you want, you can just search for "BlackBerry." Do the results include yours?

When you find your particular model of BlackBerry phone, just click on it and you’ll be taken to an offer page. To find the appropriate price for your phone, just answer a few simple questions about whether it makes a call successfully, is free of water damage, is in poor, fair, good or perfect condition, and whether you still have the AC adapter and original cables. Then click on the "Find Top Cash Offers" button.

Speaking of box, what happens next is that most buyers will send you a pre-paid shipping box. Just carefully pack your items inside and send it in. Once the condition of each item has been verified, you’ll get a check in the mail. How sweet is that?

By the way, this takes only a few minutes and can turn into something of a treasure hunt and you go through the house rounding up all your old unwanted gadgets, including BlackBerry phones collecting dust. Why not give it a try right now? Get started recycling your BlackBerry Phone and other devices for cash.

Cell Phone Bill Shock Is So Easy To Avoid

The Federal Communications Commission has gotten so many complaints about "cell phone bill shock" that they are considering new regulation. If you’ve been a victim, this probably sounds like something long overdue. But why be a victim in the first place?

Don't get shocked by cellular overages. Get prepaid wireless service from NET10.Cell phone bill shock, aka “bill shock”, is the horrible feeling you experience when you open your monthly cell phone bill to find humongous overage charges. Your first reaction may be a stunned silence, followed by rubbing your eyes to see if those numbers are really on the paper. Then a gasp of “WHAAAAT??????”

If you haven’t collapsed by this point, you’ll be scouring the bill trying to figure out if it’s for real or a mistake by your carrier. Overages of hundreds or thousands of dollars have to be a mistake, right?

Oh, no they’re not. Sure, any billing system can make a once-in-a-blue-moon error. The vast majority of the time, however, those charges are absolutely accurate. The problem is that the cellular company didn’t make the error... you did.

That’s right. The error you made was not knowing every picky detail of your contract and/or not paying close enough attention to your usage. Often, the problem arises when someone else uses your phone. Teenagers are blissfully ignorant of wireless contract terms. They’ll play games, download music & videos, and yak it up till the battery goes dead. Hey, it’s not a problem on the home computer or telephone line so why would they expect it to be on a cell phone?

As bill shock victims can attest, this IS a problem with wireless services. That package of anytime minutes has a hard limit. Exceed it and the cost per minute goes up to the Moon. The same is true of data plans. How many people truly realize that they have a 2GB or 5GB limit with large per KB overages above that? If you never hit the limit, you might think you have unlimited service. The first time you exceed it, you’ll get a nasty, nasty dose of reality.

The FCC is considering mandating that wireless carriers send users a text message to tell their customers when they get within 80% of their usage limit or are about to incur expensive data-roaming charges. That sounds like a sensible reminder. If you get the warning and exceed the limits anyway, at least you can’t say you weren’t warned.

If you enjoy the benefits of having a particular phone on a traditional cell phone plan, including getting a free phone, then you need to be vigilant about your usage or upgrade to an unlimited plan so you don’t have to worry about it. But if you want more control over your cellular costs, consider a pre-paid service instead. Pre-paid is just what it sounds like. You buy a certain bundle of minutes in advance and then work them down. When you run out, you buy more minutes or simply stop using the phone... at least for awhile.

NET10 is one of the leaders in pre-paid cell phone service. The “10” in NET10 stands for 10 cents per minute. That’s what all calls cost you. There are no roaming charges, no overages, no contracts and no bills. You pay 10 cents per minute for calls. Text messages are 5 cents each. It’s easy to remember and easy to manage.

It’s really easy to manage NET10 prepaid cell phone service because you buy a special phone that displays your exact airtime balance. When you get low, you can buy more time on the Web, in retail stores that sell airtime “cards”, or by calling a toll free number for NET10. Your minutes don’t expire, but you do need to refresh your service to keep it active.

If you are a casual user or just want to keep a cell phone around for emergencies, pre-paid service can be a big money saver. It will cost you $15 a month on an automatic monthly plan for 150 minutes. That’s half the cost of the smallest plans offered by most traditional carriers. Plus you avoid signing a contract or having your credit checked. When you want to discontinue service, you simply stop using it. Pretty easy, right?

If prepaid cellular service sounds like the service for you, take a few minutes and see what NET10 has to offer in the way of phones and plans. It could save you from that awful cell phone bill shock that has horrified so many others.

Doing BACKFLIPs with MOTOBLUR

Are you given to doing backflips over your cell phone? I didn’t think so. Here’s a new and unique smartphone design from Motorola that might change your mind. Its called the BACKFLIP.

Motorola BACKFLIP with MOTOBLUR cell phone. Get a great deal on free and deeply discounted phones now. What’s unique about the BACKFLIP? It’s all in the hinge. Most phones with built-in physical QWERTY keyboards make you open the phone to find another display screen hinged above the keyboard. It’s too expensive to have a full size touchscreen on the face of the phone and other one the same size inside. So, you generally have to contend with a smaller inside screen or the main screen inside and a very small status screen outside.

The BACKFLIP solves this dilemma by reversing the hinge so that opening the phone puts the full size main screen above a large keyboard of similar size. Closed, the screen is on the front of the phone and the QWERTY keyboard is on the back. Problem solved. The photo gives you the idea.

What Motorola has done is give you a more spacious QWERTY keyboard than you expect in a smartphone and a high resolution touch screen to go along with it. It’s like carrying around a small computer as well as a cell phone.

Actually, it’s more than that. MOTOBLUR that runs on the Android operating system is a step-up in mobile access. Your social networks are all collected on one screen that you can access with just a flip of your thumb. Include your messages and favorite apps on the same customizable screen. With AT&T 3G wireless service you can talk and surf the Web at the same time. It’s a multitasking must-have.

What else does this clever phone do? It takes high quality pictures with 5 megapixels of resolution. That’s as good or better than your old digital camera - and it’s built into the phone. It also works as a camcorder at movie speeds of 24 frames per second. That’s something your old camera doesn’t do. That one never let you edit your pictures right in the camera and then send them to your friends immediately with multimedia messaging. This one does.

There are many other features that may also induce you to do backflips. You can put this phone in table-top mode as a digital picture frame or bedside alarm. You can geo-tag your photos, see where you are with Google Maps and listen to music on the Android MP3 player or watch videos. For really high speed operations, there’s built-in WiFi and you’ll have free access to more than 20,000 AT&T WiFi hotspots nationwide.

So much phone for so little money. How little? How about free (as of this writing) with a new AT&T account. That includes free shipping right to your home, all set up and ready to use. So, are you ready to flip? If so, learn more and order your Motorola BACKFLIP with MOTOBLUR for AT&T now.

If prefer another model phone, a different carrier, or just want to browse the latest special offers of free and deeply discounted cell phones, check out the selection through Cell Phone Plans Finder now.

DROID vs DROID

You’ve heard plenty about the famous DROID phone, so named because it runs the Google Android operating system. But did you know that there were TWO of them? Yes, not only are there 2 DROIDs, but they are manufactured by two different companies to different specifications. So, which DROID is the DROID you have in mind?

Motorola DROID for Verizon WirelessThe first DROID is build by Motorola for use on the Verizon Wireless network. It’s a touchscreen QWERTY smartphone running the Android 2.0 operating system. It’s so innovating, that it won Time.com’s “Top Gadget of 2009” award.

This DROID is the top of the line model, with a 5.0 Megapixel digital camera that doubles as a camcorder. It offers geo-tagging, auto-stabilization, a camera flash and on-board picture editing tools. You can take print your pictures or shared them online or via multimedia messaging.

Intended as a direct competitor to Apple’s iPhone, the Motorola DROID is two phones in one. Closed, it has something of an iPhone appearance, also sported by a wide number of touchscreen phones today. The large 3.7 inch color touchscreen display gives you complete command of thousands of apps that you can download from the Android Market.

Slide out the full QWERTY keyboard and you have a messaging machine that should please the fastest texting aficionado. Connectivity is 3G wireless where available on the Verizon Wireless network plus WiFi for use at home, work or in cafe and other WiFi hotspots. Surf the Web, email, SMS text, IM or multimedia text those you want to stay in contact with.

HTC DROID ERIS for Verizon WirelessThe alternate DROID phone is the DROID ERIS build by HTC, also for the Verizon Wireless network. This one runs the Google Android 1.5 operating system, sports a 3.2 inch color touchscreen display and offers a virtual keyboard rather that the slide-out set of buttons. In this respect, it is more like the iPhone than the Motorola DROID.

You still get the 5.0 Megapixel digital camera that is integrated with GPS services. The DROID ERIS also connects to both the 3G Verizon Wireless cellular network and WiFi hotspots.

So why would you pick one model of DROID over the other? It’s personal preference, mostly. If you like the more industrial look or want a physical keyboard, Motorola DROID is your choice. It also runs the more advanced Android 2.0 operating system and can handle larger memory cards. If you like the more rounded look, are happy with an on-screen keyboard, prefer the HTC Sense display presentation, and like the separate phone control buttons, you may prefer the HTC DROID ERIS. In fact, these phones are more alike than different, so carefully read the specs and look at the pictures for each phone to help make your decision.

You should also know that, as of this writing, the DROID ERIS is available free after instant online discount and the DROID is available at a deep discount of just $49.99. Those deals are always changing, so check out the complete selection of smartphone special offers and learn more about the HTC DROID and Motorola DROID ERIS for Verizon Wireless now.

Call China From Your Car

You need to make an overseas call and now’s the right time. But you’re sitting in a parking lot far away from your home base. What do you do? Why, simply pull out your cell phone and use your TEL3 app. You’ll be talking to your party in China for just a penny a minute.

Call the world for pennies with TEL3Advantage. Get your free minutes bonus now.Whoa! Can you actually make international calls on your cell phone cheaper than on a landline?

Yes, you can if you have the right international long distance service. In fact, with the service I’m going to discuss, you can make cheap international calls from any phone you happen to be at.

The service is TEL3Advantage and you don’t need to change your current long distance service to use it. This is an add-on service known as an international dial-around. Think of it as an app for your phones. In fact, for many cell phones there is an actual app you can download. There’s a special TEL3Dialer for iPhone and a Smartplug for other cell phones.

Actually, the apps just make the service a bit easier to use. As with any dial-around, you call a special access number to connect to the service. Then you dial the party you wish to speak with. It’s something like using a calling card, but without the paper calling card and without the need to enter any pin numbers. What the apps do is make the process completely transparent. All you do is dial the international number you want and the app takes care of making the connection.

Now what’s that about a penny per minute? That’s the special introductory rate to call China. After 30 days you pay just 1.8 cents a minute as the regular rate. Why, I’ll bet your landline long distance service charges more than that to call the next state.

This service works from the USA or Canada and allows you to call worldwide at rates much lower than you’d expect. You can dial the access number from any phone, such as your office landline, home phone, hotel phone, or your cell phone. You’ll be using cellular minutes when using your cellphone, but the cost of calling overseas will be at the low per minute rates from TEL3Advantage. Did you know that if you try to make an international call from most cell phones, it either won’t go through or you’ll be charged a huge premium?

Don’t be cut off from family, friends and business colleagues overseas. You can call them anytime at super low rates. You get high call quality, no contracts or obligations, online account management, ability to make calls directly from your address book and even free minutes as a bonus when you sign up. Interested? Learn more and sign up now for your free minutes from TEL3Advantage International Long Distance Service.

Democracy In a Cell Phone

As I’m writing this, I’m looking at a report that the American Red Cross has received $22 million in donations for Haiti earthquake relief via cell phone text messages. By the time you read this post, that number will most certainly have been superseded by an even larger amount. Such an outpouring of generosity by texting is being called unprecedented. It is, but this is more likely to signal a new social trend than an amazing one-time event.

Texting on a cell phone. The $22 million figure is truly astounding when you consider it was raised in about a week in increments of $10 per donor. That’s a couple of million people acting independently but almost simultaneously when the request for help went out. They were, and still are, enabled by a process that makes giving faster and easier than ever before. In the case of this relief effort for suffering millions in Haiti, all that is necessary is to send the text message “Haiti” to the number 90999. In seconds you’ve made a pledge that adds $10 to your cell phone bill.

But there are already established ways to make charitable donations, right? Of course. They include writing checks and sending them to published addresses or in response to appeal letters that come in the mail. The Internet savvy, and who isn’t these days, can go to a website address, click on the donate button and enter their credit card information. They’ll get a Web or email confirmation and perhaps a letter of confirmation a week or two later. You can also call in your donation. Just call the charity’s toll free number and a friendly operator will take your information for a credit card donation or as a pledge that you’ll follow up with a check later.

Now, compare sending a text message to a short number to navigating the Internet, finding your credit card, entering your information online, or calling a number and waiting to be served. The first process takes seconds. The other processes take minutes to who knows how long. Texting is like instantly voting. Everything else feels like filling out a form... and it is.

Cell phone texting has established new behaviors and expectations in at least one generation of users. The expectation is that you can participate in anything instantly and in real time. The voting analogy is a good one and rooted in fact. “American Idol” taught millions how to vote with their cell phones. How soon will we be able to voice our opinions on local and national referendums by simply texting 1, 2 or 3 to indicate for, against, or neutral? How few years will pass when we expect to vote for actual candidates via cell phone text message?

Seriously. Which would you rather do? Take time off work, drive to a polling place you never otherwise visit, stand in line, fiddle around with a punch card or paper ballot, and then drop it into a machine that you only hope is working correctly to tally your vote. Or, cast your vote by text message or smartphone voting app and have the system ensure that your vote is counted and that you have voted once and only once. Both systems can be designed to produce honest and accurate results. But one is orders of magnitude faster and easier than the other. Now, which do you suppose will be more effective in encouraging public participation? Think about the Haiti relief donations before you answer.

The fact is that the rise of the cellphone in every pocket has changed the fabric of society. Actually making telephone calls is the least of it. Nearly every new phone has texting capability and most give you email and website Internet access, increasingly at broadband speeds. How about cell phone cameras? The combination of built-in cameras and YouTube has given rise to the age of the citizen journalist. Now everyone has the ability to capture the events that they are witnessing in both still photos and video. You see these contributions on TV news more and more. Often, the random person lucky or unlucky enough to be present when something momentous occurs is the only one who can act fast enough to capture the sound and images of a fleeting event.

More than any development before it, cellular technology is enabling us to function as individuals but act in concert on matters of importance to all or many. I think that we’re just at the beginning of this trend. As it plays out, our cell phones may replace our credit cards and even cash for most transactions. Wallet? Why would you need a wallet except to hold pictures of the family? Oh, wait, they’re right there on the cell phone screen.

In the present, you have an opportunity to participate in a significant way in the rescue and relief of an entire nation crushed by an unforeseen natural disaster. Have you got a few seconds? Then go ahead and text “Haiti” to 90999 to make your $10 donation. The carriers are participating by waiving their standard text messaging fees and are taking actions to get the funds to the American Red Cross as quickly as possible, so that we can support the Haitians in real time... which is what they need more than anything.

Going Incognito With SANYO and Sprint

If someone says you have to do your messaging incognito, just SANYO.

The new SANYO Incognito for Sprint is the text messaging phone you’ve been waiting for. It’s subtle on the outside and powerful on the inside. Remember the big black monolith in “2001: A Space Odyssey?” Well, this looks a little like that, except it’s pocket size. Keep it in your pocket and you won’t have to worry about any apes going loopy and throwing bones around. When you need it, the mirrored shell will glow to reveal a monochrome display and the buttons you need for dialing a phone call.

Sanyo Incognito for Sprint PCS service.

“OMG, it’s full of keys!”

OK, another homage to the Stanley Kubrick movie. But flip open your SANYO Incognito and you’ll find a full QWERTY keyboard with keys big enough to enable high speed messaging. You’ll also have a crisp 2.6 inch color display with 320 x 240 Pixel resolution. It’s almost like having a sub-netbook computer in your hand. Hopefully, not too smart of a computer. You don’t want to be texting along and hear a disembodied voice say, “I’m sorry Dave. I can’t let you send that.”

No way. That’s not going to happen... at least right now. You know some clever dude is going to develop a HAL 9000 app, but you won’t have to download it unless you want the cybernetic companionship.

Are you a social person? How about a social networking person? Good. The Incognito has your favorite apps, including Facebook, MySpace and Photobucket pre-installed. There’s a WAP 2.0 browser for surfing the Web and support for email, instant messaging, multimedia messaging and standard SMS text messaging. After all, you’ll need to make good use of all those keys.

Multimedia will get a workout, too. The SANYO incognito sports a media player that works with your music library and streaming media, including Sprint TV. The onboard digital camera has 2.0 Megapixels of resolution with multiple capture modes including night shot, multi-shot, color effects, zoom and more. You can capture video clips of any pesky simians and expose their evolutionary antics on YouTube.

Is Incognito the messaging phone you’ve waited eons to appear? Well, would you like to have one anyway, especially if you knew you could get it free online? No need to wait for any Moon or Jupiter missions. Get complete details and order your SANYO Incognito for Sprint PCS right now.

Or check all the current special offers for free and low cost cell phones and smartphones.

Did I mention video messaging? It’s supported on the Solstice, along with picture messaging. You can also enjoy video share calling that lets you stream live video during your phone calls. The 2.0 Megapixel camera with 3x digital zoom works as both a standard camera and camcorder. Don’t worry about running out of memory if you take too many photos or movies. You can expand memory with up to a 16 GB microSD memory card.

That memory will also come in handy if you like to take your music with you. This phone supports AT&T Music with an integrated MP3 player that syncs your music library or lets you download new songs on the go.

Do you travel overseas? If so, you’ll want a what’s called a quad band GSM phone. That’s the Samsung Solstice. It’s compatible with the GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands that form the basis of nearly all international cellular services.

When You Call My Equinox I See Purple

I’ve not only got your number, I’ve got your color. That’s what you’ll be telling people when you start carrying the new Sony Ericsson Equinox Carbon cell phone for T-Mobile. This phone goes beyond Caller ID. It’s got pulsating caller colors.

Sony Ericsson Equinox Carbon shown closedAnxiously awaiting a call from that special someone? No need to keep the ringer turned up and embarrass yourself in the movies or at dinner with friends. No need to squint at the caller ID hoping to see that magical number appear. Just set your phone on the table and glance at it inconspicuously from time to time. You know how to be nonchalant, right? You won’t miss a thing, because when the call comes through you’ll see a pulsating colored light, perhaps purple, that’s you’ve assigned to that special number. You actually get 5 different colors that include amber, sapphire, beryl, diamond and amethyst. That’s five friends you have color coded. Or, four friends and one person you’re trying to avoid. When that color comes up, just pretend you’ve seen nothing at all.

The Sony Ericsson Equinox has other special features beyond the color coded call alert. The smooth black case of this flip-phone has a disappearing external display. It’s there when you want it, with battery power, signal strength or caller ID. Then it disappears into the background where it won’t distract from the sleek appearance of the outside cover.

You’ll also notice the lens of a digital camera near the top of the case. This is a high resolution 3.2 Megapixel camera that also functions as a camcorder. Sony Ericsson knows that you like to upload your photos and videos to social networking and photo sharing sites. So they’ve made it easy to get your videos on YouTube and other popular sites. Print the pix you want hard copies of using Bluetooth wireless printing. Geotagging is also available so you can identify where your pictures were taken much later on.

The GPS services support for picture geotagging is also used for the TeleNav Navigator navigation service for turn by turn driving directions. This phone also works with Google Maps. Yes, it’s a 3G phone with download speeds up to 3.6 Mbps where available. That means mobile Web browsing and email, along with text messaging, IM, and multimedia messaging.

What else does this sleek and clever cell phone offer? Why, an MP3 player of course. This one includes an FM Radio so you’ll have music or the latest news wherever you go. You can expand memory by adding a Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory card up to 8 GB so ensure that you’ll have plenty of storage for your tune, pix and videos.
